In memory of those who perished and to help those who are hurt or have lost their homes and livelihoods because of the earthquake in Nepal, I have pledged to personally make 10,000 prayer flags. As of this writing, over 8,500 lives have been lost as a result of the earthquake. It is estimated, that the toll will rise to 10,000 or more. As a Nepali far away from home at the time of the disaster, I have felt helpless in not being able to do anything immediate to ease the pain and suffering of victims or console those who have lost so much. Through the immediate and personal act of hand making each flag, I aim to honor and remember the lives lost. I have also set a goal to raise $25,000 for recovery efforts. I need your help. Please support my pledge to make 10,000 prayer flags and raise money. I also welcome you to join me by pledging to make flags and raise money yourself. The road ahead is going to be long for Nepal. Let us send our prayers and messages of compassion, healing, and strength to help Nepal get back on her feet.
Please help. With your help, each flag will have a special message of compassion or prayer. Please take a minute to send yours in. Also, please consider making a donation to support the rebuilding work in Nepal. While raising money is NOT my main goal, money is needed for rebuilding efforts and every dollar counts.
For each $25 donation, I pledge to make a string of 10 flags with your special prayer or message. But I will make a flag for any amount you contribute even it is just just a dollar. And of course I will make at least one flag for every message you send, regardless of any donations, so they can fly high from rooftops and mountains in Nepal. The pictures of completed prayer flags will be posted in the community page. Once the project is complete, I will take the flags to Nepal to hang them on top of Phulchowki, Swayambhu, or another sacred or culturally significant place. Thank you for supporting this project of hope and remembrance! |
